Huy Hoang and Tram for submitting yours today. I now have a totalof 16: 7 from my family, 5 from cau Nam's family, and 4 from di Bay'sfamily. Trung, I got your pictures, still waiting for the letter. Forthose of you who haven't have time to write or send pix yet. Please do soASAP. Every letter, every picture is a treasure to cau Nam. We have had a3 line letter, and we have had a 3 page letter. If you're busy, 3 words isgood too!
Because cau Nam seemed already somewhat disoriented this evening, I urgentlybrought my laptop to his room, showed him the pictures, and read him allyour letters directly from the laptop. Eventhough before I started, he wasphysically exhausted and somewhat mentally confused, as I read the firstletter, he got focused and tuned in. By the time I read the second andthird letters, his mind was sharp again. I saw before my own eyes howhappiness can trigger a rush of endorphine (?) to his head and make himmore alert so fast. Each and every letter touched him tremendously. Hecried, he laughed, he nodded, he remembered the details in the past. At theend he said, "Cau Nam se khong bao gio quen nhung la thu nay!" That's apowerful statement coming from a mind starving of oxygen and nutrients forso long, and about to give out like... candle in the wind!
I got home and immediately had Khoa and Chau print out all the pictures andletters. We just now finished the scrapbooks. There are actually 2 smallbooks because I didn't want to put them all in 1 big book. Cau Nam is tooweak to hold up the weight. Anyway, mission accomplished,... for now. Iwill supplement the books later as more will be submitted soon. ( I hope andpray. I spare you the knocking on your door not because I am nice butbecause I am just... "het xi quach" :-)) Tomorrow morning, I will bring thebooks to cau Nam. He did ask to have a hard copy so he can read at his ownpace.
Hopefully the books will keep his heart and mind going strong enough to waitfor the last family members to arrive.
Thank you everyone for your cooperation in this project. It means a worldto cau Nam.
