From Son

Dear Cau Nam,

I hope this letter arrive to you with understanding and bring you peace. From the many emails that Anh Quoc has sent to me, I know that you have been through a lot that you have never experienced before: physical intense pain, emotional pain, and worries for what is to come. Please understand that we are here with you. You are loved.

Upon reflection of the moments that we have had together, I can remember many different experiences. You had visited our family in Cincinnati when I was in graduate school. You spent time with me offering me encouragement and kindness.

Cau Nam, it was refreshing at that moment in my life to have another relative who gave words of wisdom, understanding, and perspectives. At that time, you had not much, but you gave me a ring to remember you by. I have kept that ring to this day. I had worn that ring through Medical School as a reminder of you and your words. Your influences were so strong that when I had a week off during my schooling, I went down to Houston to visit you. If you remember, that was when you had just met Co Lisa and Di Sau had not approved. So I walked a couple of blocks down the street to be picked up by Co Lisa and yourself. I have great memories just spending one to one time with you. I remembered you staying in a small one room apartment …you were content and at peace. I had terrific time fishing with you and Young Sau. Although, we did not catch anything, it gave us time to sit and talk. We enjoyed the time we had together. I will always cherish these memories and feel blessed that we shared those times together. I will also remember you as someone who is strong, intelligent, and handsome with a great sense of humor. Please know that you will live on in my memories as well in the memories of many of your children, nieces and nephews.

Cau Nam, I would like to wish for you in this moment love, peace and comfort.

Your Nephew,

Son
