Upon returning from a break, I was informed by the evening nurse that Cau Nam has a busy day scheduled for tomorrow. Come to find out that he was told earlier today that he has a hole in one of his lungs which they will have to plug up tomorrow. This is the first time I remember hearing anything about a hole in his lung. The nurse wasn't sure how it got there. The second procedure will be to insert a port-a-cath to prepare him for chemotherapy. This was the surgery that we thought might take place on Friday.
Because of his busy day tomorrow, he will need to get as much uninterupted sleep tonight as much as possible. The nurse says that in many cases, how well a patient recovers has a lot to do with how well rested he is prior to and after the surgery. He had left a sleeping pill for Cau Nam to take later tonight. I was able to get Cau Nam to take the sleeping pill with 3/4 of a bottle of Ensure once he woke up again. Other than returning to take Cau Nam's blood pressure in the morning, the nurse had indicated that nothing else is scheduled for Cau Nam tonight. Therefore, he should be able to sleep pretty soundly with the help of the sleeping medication. So far he seems to be resting more easily than he had been last night.
I am told that tonight, Duong Sau managed to find his way over from his own hospital room to visit Cau Nam. I can just picture Duong Sau walking his IV stand down the hall looking for Cau Nam's room in order to make plans for their next fishing expedition.
